I’m an artist and I have been for most of my life. I’ve always been fascinated by shadows and the way they fall across things. Years ago my best friend died. After his passing a mutual friend gave me a photograph she took of him. It was very dark, with the shadows on his face merging into the black background. “He wanted me to take a picture of him and have his face blend into the background” she told me. I kept that picture on my wall and would often stare at it and marvel at the simplicity it gave his face. Soon I was doing the same thing in my paintings, using only the highlights of the face I was capturing with the rest becoming one dark form. I kept exploring this fascinating style, trying bold and/or unusual colors, moving away from realism but keeping a realistic foundation. Faces soon moved in to full human forms, twisting with color and shadow. Not quite realistic, not quite abstract. Living in the nether world in between. After that my painting style became more simplistic, moving towards becoming a picture drawn with paint. Not fully a painting, not just a drawing. Blending from opposite ends of several spectrums, constantly leading me down a path I’d never even thought of before.
My typical prices: 24"x16" $100 36"x24" $400 I paint on pre-stretched canvas. All finished pieces are unframed, however I do finish the edges in black. Prices don't include shipping.
