I live in South Gloucestershire with my wife Becky and son. I try to bring together many varied styles of painting and drawing techniques which reflect my broad and in-depth training both in the UK and abroad.I first started painting portraits when I was eighteen and have enjoyed doing it ever since.
I have spent time in France under the skilled tutelage of painter David McEwen. I then continued my studies at Falmouth College of Arts completing a Foundation Degree in Art and Design. This was followed by an Honours Degree in Fine Art at the University College of Creative Arts (Surrey Institute of Art and Design University College).
Whilst in London, I arranged and exhibited at The Small Mansion Art Centre. I also exhibited at The Royal Overseas League, BIW Technology, The Millennium Dome, Surrey Open Studios, and The Watts Gallery to name a few. Sponsors have included National Association of Decorative Fine Arts Society, Mercedes Benz, Crown Paints Limited, and Rosemary and Co Brushes. My paintings are now included in collections worldwide.
I have always drawn inspiration from my surroundings, both past and present. I am equally at home with images of both London high rise cityscapes and the small hamlets and waterways of Devon.
I am happy to respond to any enquiries regarding portrait commissions. More of my work can be seen at www.robertcordingley.co.uk
